Though the right size (8.5 for 9.75'' foot), the sandal fits great except at the outer front strap on the great toe.. painful until I stuffed some tissue between toe and strap, since I really like those sandals. The strap is man-made material, so I doubt this will stretch out.I walked around and it seems like I started getting back pain .. ugh.. maybe the rigid platform?!? I will try them again off and on for a few days because I really like the style. By design, those straps should be canvas or similar that have a little give. Getting 1/2 size bigger doesn't make sense since that will cause them to flop around.update 9/2023 - still wearing those at least once a week, and though not leather, the toe strap seems to have stretched, so no more blisters. For a few months, I placed a cotton ball inside on my toe to prevent blisters. Still some back discomfort when wearing for a few hours but that may be the rigid and heavy sole.
